Ajax De Ligt responded professionally when asked if he wanted Spurs or City to make it through ahead of the titanic clash on Wednesday night.
The Dutch giants defeated Real Madrid in the round of 16 before they caused an even bigger surprise by beating Italian champions Juventus in the quarterfinal.
Ahead of the clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, Ajax had already booked their place in the semifinals of the competition.
Many people had classed Manchester City as the favourites to win the tie, especially after considering their dominant record against Spurs at the Etihad stadium and the face that they were the current champions of the Premier League.
Before the dramatic clash in Manchester on Wednesday, the captain of Ajax was asked about whom he would prefer to face between the two sides.
And in all fairness, the answer of De Ligt was one which saw him sit on the fence.
“No, no. I don’t have any preference. We will see who comes to the semi-final when we have to show the same as today.” the defender was quoted as saying by HITC
