Pundit Noel Whelan has given his perspective on what he believes will be the decision of Mauricio Pochettino after this season is over.
The former Espanyol boss has made a magnificent difference at the club ever since he moved to Spurs from Southampton almost half a decade ago.
Pochettino has not had the luxury of having a huge budget like some of his rivals – Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp – who have been gifted with enough money to buy as players as they want.
After the club’s move to the new stadium, it has become clearer than ever that Pochettino’s progress with the team is quite an impressive feat.
The only disadvantage of the aforementioned progress is the fact that other big clubs around Europe will be interested in luring his services once again this summer.
However, Noel Whelan has suggested that Pochettino will snub any potential offers and choose to remain in north London this summer.
“He won’t just ditch Spurs, that’s not how he works,” Whelan told Football Insider.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Real Madrid and Barcelona are sniffing around him, but he feels he has a job to do at Tottenham and won’t be satisfied until he has completed it.
“Pochettino likes to test himself and that’s what makes him one of the best in the world. He is a brilliant manager. You can’t say he hasn’t been successful at Tottenham even though he hasn’t won a trophy.
“I’ve no doubt he will stay next season and look to tick the trophies box. It’s the one thing that will nag away at him.”
