Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has claimed that Everton loanee Andre Gomes is a player whom Mauricio Pochettino should be looking at.
After saying goodbye to Mousa Dembele in the winter, there is defnitely a void to be filled now in the Tottenham Hotspur squad.
With the club now in a great position to even win the Champions League, more depth in the team will be needed for the future.
Pochettino is known to be a manager who is often keen on signing players on the cheap and developing them into quality stars.
Gomes is by no means a youngster and he is at a stage of his career where needs to show his ability at a big club or risking languishing at the lower levels.
The midfielder, who is on loan at Everton from Barcelona, could move to a new club when his stint at Goodison Park comes to an end this season.
Thus, Paul Merson believes Gomes is a player whom Tottenham should take a chance on.
“I like him [Gomes],” Merson told Soccer Saturday. “There is talk of Tottenham coming in for him for £30 million. Again, this is what happens, you have a couple of good games and other teams look at the loan situation and think ‘Oh, he’s only on loan, I’ll take him’. He’s a Tottenham player… He’s a Tottenham player!
