‘I was asked by Tottenham’: Defender reveals Spurs’ approach to sign him

Even though Tottenham Hotspur were not able to secure any new players during last summer’s transfer window, it is now clearer to fans that the club did make some sort of effort to change that outcome last year.

Indeed, Bordeaux defender Raoul Bellanova has revealed that he was contacted by Spurs in an attempt to lure him to north London, prior to his move from AC Milan last summer.

Over his tenure at Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino has been renowned for his ability to nurture young players, with the Argentine often opting to pick promising talent over the finished product in the transfer market.

Rau Bellanova, who is only 19 years old, has revealed that prior to his transfer switch last summer, Tottenham were indeed one of the clubs who made an approach, in an attempt to bring him to the Premier League.

“Yes, I was close to Manchester City, but I was also asked by Tottenham, Juventus, Sampdoria, Bologna and many other teams.” he said in an exclusive interview with Tutto Mercato Web

Bellanova decided to leave the San Siro for Bordeaux before immediately being returned on loan to the Serie A club in a dramatic turnaround.
