Tottenham Hotspur made history this season by reaching the final of the Champions League against all of the odds, after beating the likes of Borussia Dortmund , Manchester City and Ajax on the way there.
At the start of the season, Spurs were tipped by some to even bow out of the competition in the group stage after being drawn against the likes of Barcelona and Inter Milan, two teams who have won the Champions League over the past decade.
Tottenham somehow made it to the final, where they faced Liverpool on Saturday in a relatively frustrating match to watch.
After losing the clash with Klopp’s side 2-0, it was an emotional blow for Fernando Llorente, a player who is set to leave the club at the expiration of his contract.
A day after the loss in Madrid, the Spanish striker – who scored the decisive goal in the tie against Manchester City – sent out a heartfelt message to the fans.
Yesterday was not the day, disappointed for the result…not the way we wanted to finish the season…but proud of the team and how far we’ve come. A massive thank you to all our supporters, you’ve been amazing this season #COYS pic.twitter.com/0uAgCx2hKm
