Pochettino: One thing sets Tottenham apart from top-four rivals

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has spoken on what sets his side part from the rest of the teams who are also chasing a spot in the top four of the Premier League this season.

Spurs came into this year with a target of maintaining their place in the Champions League and perhaps challenging for the title as well.

Indeed, for much of the campaign until recently, Tottenham were actually in the conversation about the Premier League title race.

Pochettino’s men did lose their form around a month ago as Harry Kane returned from his initial injury spell but after the opening of the new stadium, things are looking good again for the team.

After beating Crystal Palace 2-0 at home last week, Spurs then secured a massive 1-0 win over Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday night.

Tottenham are still in a strong position to finish the season in third place and Pochettino has suggested that his side’s ‘belief’ is what sets them apart from their top four rivals.

“Watching the past few years, I don’t believe we are favourites,” he said, as quoted by 90XTRA

“I think we are below them, but in our belief and our confidence maybe we are above them. We trust in ourselves and we are confident we are going to get into the top four.

“Of course it is going to be tough and it’s so exciting and amazing for everyone, for us not so much.”

  1. Spurs need to change their mindset and kill the games off when they take the lead, and not take their foot off the pedal and think being one nil up and game is over. Also need to keep clean sheets and not concede too many goals COYS

    1. Instead of being so picky, you should appreciate the team more. Plastic fans like you are not allowed in this new era at the club mate
