Spurs in chase to sign 22-year-old goalkeeper: Possible replacement for Lloris

Based on reports, Spurs are in a three-horse race to sign Ajax’s highly rated goalkeeper Andre Onana.

The rumour claims that Mauricio Pochettino is in the hunt to replace Hugo Lloris after a handful of errors this season.

Onana is a product of the prestigious La Masia academy in Barcelona and moved to Ajax in January 2015.

The 22-year old has kept 22 clean sheets in 38 games so far this campaign in all competitions.

Arsenal, West Ham and Barcelona are the other teams in the hunt for the Cameroonian with the Gunners keeping tabs on him since 2014.

However, Barcelona seem to be the favourites in the race after the player himself admitted his desire to return to Spain.

The report also reveals that an approach from Ligue 1 side Marseille was turned down earlier this summer.

Ajax are reportedly holding out for a £35.6 million fee for the 22-year old, something that the Catalans are not willing to pay.

Spurs would have to dig deep into their pockets if they were to land the Ajax goalie but it’s an investment that could reap rewards for over the next decade.
