Spurs in hunt to secure signing of £53.5m striker

Tottenham Hotspur are in the hunt to secure a move for Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, based on a report by Italian outlet Corriere della Serra.

The Argentine goal-scorer was of course the man who scored the vital equaliser for Juventus at Wembley last season in their round of 16 second-leg clash with Spurs.

Higuain has always been linked with a move to the Premier League and as he approaches the twilight of his career, this might be the right time for his next big switch.

It is understood that Spurs are interested in chalenging other clubs to secure the signing of the striker for the £53.5million price which Juventus are demanding.

Harry Kane is undoubtedly the main man to lead the Tottenham front-line at the moment, but in his absence, there is hardly a capable substitute for the England international.

Therefore, it would be a rational move for Mauricio Pochettino to lure Higuain.
