‘Spurs name is on the trophy’: Anderton reveals why Liverpool will lose final

According to Darren Anderton, Tottenham Hotspur are on course to lift the Champions League trophy after the final against Liverpool on Saturday since the omens are in favour of the side from north London.

Spurs were merely looking to mingle it with the rest of the elite sides in Europe as they were drawn into a tough group in the Champions League at the start of this season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men managed to complete a miraculous comeback from being at the bottom of the group to somehow qualify for the last 16 of the competition.

After defeating Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16, some thought the run might end there but Manchester City were also beaten in the quarterfinals before the dramatic show against Ajax in Amsterdam.

Spurs are now just one game away from becoming Champions League winners and even though Liverpool have their strengths, there is enough reason to believe that Pochettino’s side can do it.

“All the pressure if on Liverpool to win and that will play in to Tottenham’s hands,” he told Sportingbet.

“After the incredible run that Tottenham have had in the Champions League this season, I would back them to bring the trophy home.

“Liverpool are favourites for obvious reasons, but it certainly feels that Spurs name is on the trophy; they’ve had an incredible run. When it comes down to a one-off match, I would back Spurs on the day against anyone.”
