Tottenham Hotspur have displayed an interest in securing the signature of Colombia’s World Cup star Juan Quintero from FC Porto this summer, based on a report by La Nueva.
Mauricio Pochettino is aware that he will need a deeper squad to compete in the Champions League next season as the club prepares for the possible opening of a new stadium as well.
Within the past 24 hours, Spurs are understood to have expressed an interest in signing Quintero, who is also being pursued by Champions League winners, Real Madrid.
The report from South America states that Tottenham are expected to make an ‘important offer’ for the attacking midfielder.
Quintero is currently at River Plate, on loan from FC Porto, after choosing to return to South America during the January transfer window this year.
The fact that Mousa Dembele’s future at the club has remained unresolved means a new midfielder will most likely be needed.
