Spurs to enter talks over signing £600,000-a-week star after Bergwijn arrival

Tottenham Hotspur have already strengthened their front-line with the signing of Steven Bergwijn in a £27m deal (BBC) from PSV Eindhoven.

But with some time still left in the January transfer window, Jose Mourinho appears to be interested in another high-profile signing to bolster the squad for the rest of the season.

As per the Daily Mail, Tottenham are to hold talks with Real Madrid over a deal to bring Gareth Bale back to the club this month.

Bale, who has been an earner of £600,000-a-week wages based on the Daily Mail‘s report, has seen his future with Madrid remain in doubt for the last two to three years.

Tottenham are expected to hold talks with the Spanish side imminently over signing the 30-year-old but Bale would still be required to settle for a decrease in his wages for a deal to be struck.

The report does suggest that the Welshman, whose contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expires in 2022, is indeed not willing to take a pay cut.
