Sky pundit Danny Mills has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are in danger of losing four key players this summer if things do not change for the better.
Despite not being handed any of the new signings he targeted last summer, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino still managed to guide his side to the final of the Champions League, where they narrowly lost to Liverpool in Madrid.
Prior to the final, Mauricio Pochettino sent out several hints – with his statements at press-conferences -that he was not too keen on having to work another season of magic at the club without the backing of any new signings.
With over two months left before next season begins, the Spurs manager is yet to provide any reassurances about his future and there is still some doubt left over whether he will choose to remain at the club.
Therefore, Sky Sports pundit Danny Mills has claimed that the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen could all choose to leave the club if Pochettino’s future is not sorted out.
“The speculation around Pochettino is a problem,” Mills told Football Insider. “Until he is nailed down, are these Tottenham players going to be able to stay?
“From the outside it feels like he doesn’t want to commit until he knows the direction in which the club are going. He has done exceptionally well with limited funds. He wants and deserves money to spend. What more can he do? It’s now either, ‘back me or I go’.
“It matters massively to the players who the manager and the coaching staff is. It throws everything up in the air. Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Son, Christian Eriksen could all leave. This could be horrendous if Tottenham don’t back Pochettino.
“These players have played under Pochettino a long time and clearly adore him. They will be thinking about their futures if he doesn’t stay.”
