Tottenham given clearance to secure signing of £36m star after agent’s move

The agent of Tottenham target Anthony Martial has boldly stated that the Frenchman is looking to leave Manchester United this summer after his failure to develop under the management of Jose Mourinho.

The arrival of Alexis Sanchez in the January transfer window has pushed Martial further down the pecking order at Old Trafford as he currently shares a backup role with Marcus Rashford.

Martial’s lack of game time cost him a place in France’s World Cup squad and his agent has now made a bold claim that his client is ready to change clubs.

While speaking to RMC, Philippe Lamboley claimed: “After thinking about all the possibilities and scenarios, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United.

“There are many parameters, for now it’s premature to talk about it. Anthony will speak later to discuss all of this…”

The remarks from Martial’s agent have boosted Tottenham’s chance of signing the former AS Monaco star who cost United £36m in his 2015 transfer.

The two teams have been reportedly locked in negotiations over the transfer of Martial with Tottenham rumoured to be willing to swap him for Toby Alderweireld.
