Tottenham ‘holding talks’ to agree deal with £70,000-a-week star

Based on a report by the Daily Mail, Christian Eriksen is ‘holding talks’ with manager Mauricio Pochettino as the club looks to convince him to put pen-to-paper on a new contract this summer.

The Spurs manager himself only recently agreed to sign a new five-year contract – which is worth £8.5m-a-year – at the club and several important players in the squad are expected to follow his footsteps.

Eriksen did agree to extend his contract with Tottenham less than two years ago in September 2016 as a four-year deal at the time saw the midfielder’s wages increase from £35,000-a-week to £70,000-a-week.

The Daily Mail’s report is saying that the Denmark international has held ‘face-to-face discussions’ with Pochettino and he is poised to sign a new deal this summer.

The former Ajax star was a key part of a Tottenham team which finished well in the Premier League last season, securing Champions League football for another season.
