Tottenham have set aside a sum of £27million which will be offered for the signing of Alex Grimaldo from Benfica, according to reports.
The 22-year-old left-back has been plying his trade in the Portuguese topflight with Benfica since 2016, after leaving Barcelona due to a lack of opportunities for the first team at the Nou Camp.
Grimaldo’s form for Benfica has earned him admiration from several clubs around Europe, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side are now keeping tabs on him.
Based on a report by Record, Tottenham have ‘reserved’ an amount of £27million (€30million) which will be offered to Benfica for the services of the defender this summer.
Spurs are reportedly waiting on the future of England international Danny Rose to be sorted out before a formal bid is made for Grimaldo.
The young Spaniard, who was a star for Barcalelona’s B team a few years ago, is also being chased by Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
