Tottenham reach agreement for cut-price transfer of 21-year-old

Tottenham have agreed a deal to sell Anton Walkes to Portsmouth for only £200,000, the club has confirmed.

The 21-year-old was a promising defender coming out of the Tottenhamh academy and made a few appearances in friendlies over the past couple of years but was never anywhere near the first team.

He had a high profile (at least in USA) loan with MLS club Atlanta United under Tata Martino before spending the second half of last season on loan at Pompey, where he impressed before picking up an injury.

He signed a contract extension with Spurs last summer and had one senior appearance for Spurs in the EFL Cup match against Gillingham.

“Anton’s still young and has a really big future in the game,” Pompey manager Kenny Jackett said

“We’re delighted to be able to sign him on a permanent basis. He’s somebody we obviously know very well.”
