Tottenham send out club officials for 19-year-old forward with deal for £25m star in mind

According to Portuguese publication A Bola, Tottenham are plotting a summer move for Joao Pedro Neves Filipe, who is also known as Jota.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side reportedly sent out scouts to watch the forward in action when Benfica took on Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League on Thursday.

The 19-year old is one of Portugal’s highest-rated teenagers and is slowly being introduced into Benfica’s first team this season.

Felipe is a versatile forward capable of playing on both wings or up front as a number 9.

The Portuguese under-21 international is said to have a release clause in his contract which makes him available for £25 million in the summer.

Benfica are desperate to increase that figure to at least £85 million but could fail if Pochettino moves in for him in the summer.

Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen also had a scout at the Europa League game and will rival Spurs for Jota’s signature this summer.
