Tottenham are keen on snapping up Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City this summer, based on a report by the Mirror.
The Switzerland international made it clear a couple of days ago that he would like to leave Stoke City this summer following the club’s relegation from the Premier League last season.
Tottenham are reportedly willing to pay the £12m fee required to trigger the former Bayern Munich star’s release clause.
The midfielder would prefer a Premier League move and is available for a discount fee, which reports claim has made him a sought-after player.
Either way, a deal for the 26-year-old is not likely to go be completed until July, however, as Shaqiri, an earner of £36,000-a-week, is on international duty with Switzerland ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
Based on his age alone and the glimpses of pure class that he has shown over the past four to five years, a move for Shaqiri would actually be an astute one from Mauricio Pochettino.
