Last season saw Mauricio Pochettino’s side make significant progress in Europe as they reached the final of the Champions League, where they were narrowly beaten by Liverpool.
But prior to making it to the European final, the lack of depth in the Spurs squad was exposed as the club nearly missed out on a place in the top four of the Premier League.
Therefore, it would be necessary for Pochettino to continue shopping even if the likes of Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke arrive, and it looks as though Mainz star Jean-Philippe Gbamin is the next transfer target.
According to the defender’s agent, his client is on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar this summer.
In fact, Gbamin’s representative is claiming that the player has held a meeting with Spurs.
He said to Fussball Transfers (translated by HITC): “I had meetings with Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, Everton and many other clubs. He is in the shortlist. However, not as a top candidate, because its exact position is unclear. In my opinion, he is a player worth 60 million euros (£54m).”
The 23-year-old centre-back has been in good form in Germany, showing he has enough potential to attract suitors from the Premier League.
