Sky Sports pundit and former footballer Danny Mills has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur have already secured a replacement for Toby Alderweireld who appears to be edging closer to his final days as a player for Spurs.
Mauricio Pochettino’s main priority at this point is to focus on preparing his team for the final of the UEFA Champions League, where they will play Liverpool.
But regardless of what happens at the start of next month in the clash with Jurgen Klopp’s side, there will be continued speculation about the sort of business which Tottenham Hotspur and club chairman Daniel Levy will choose to complete in the transfer market this summer.
Toby Alderweired is amongst the players who are currently uncertain over their future in north London after failing to sign a contract extension.
The Belgium star might finally leave this summer but pundit Danny Mills insists Spurs have already secured a replacement for the defender in Davinson Sanchez.
Sanchez has another season of Premier League experience under his belt and Mills claims the South American star has what it takes to replace Alderweireld.
“Davinson Sanchez is starting to come into it and could be a really good player,” he said, as quoted by Football Insider
“He has two seasons of Premier League experience under his belt and is a quality centre-back who is young and will get better. He’s a little rash and makes errors, but those will be ironed out as he gets more experience.
“The possibility of key players going – Alderweireld and Eriksen particularly – may be a big problem for Tottenham this summer. But I think replacing Alderweireld is less of an issue, a perfect replacement is there. Eriksen is almost irreplaceable.”
