Journalist Manu Lonjon reveals twist in Spurs bid to secure third new signing

French journalist Manu Lonjon has revealed that Tottenham are facing a new challenge in their bid to secure what would be the third new addition of the summer.

On Friday, it became apparent that Spurs were working on hijacking Arsenal’s move to sign St-Etienne centre-back, William Saliba.

RMC reported that Tottenham interfered negotiations by offering €30m for the teenager, which could include a loan back to St-Etienne for the next season.

Heading into the weekend, Spurs appeared to be the favourites to sign Saliba who could be considered as a long-term replacement for Toby Alderweireld, a player yet to resolve his uncertain future at the club.

But according to French journalist Manu Lonon, Wolverhampton Wanderers are now challenging Spurs in the race to sign the defender.

Tottenham looked to be odds-on to beat Arsenal to the signing of the defender but Wolves – who may be able to offer Saliba first team football straight away – are now fighting to get their own deal done.
