Former Tottenham Hotspur star Mido has revealed what he has heard about Spurs target Gareth Bale amid speculation about the Welshman’s future in Spain.
Bale made his Premier League debut in the colours of Spurs after joining the club from Southampton in the summer transfer window of 2007.
It took him a few seasons to break into the first team but Bale was simply outstanding when he hit the scene, leading the club into qualification for the Champions League.
Some rumours have claimed that the 29-year-old has lost interest in football in general, with a place on the bench at Real Madrid no longer a reason to be angry.
Former Spurs star Mido has shared what he has heard about Bale, whose wages at Madrid would make him the highest-paid player in Spurs history if he was to return to north London.
The Egyptian appeared as a guest on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast radio show on talkSPORT from 8am on 22/5/19 and said: “I’m hearing that he’s just fed up with it all now, he just wants to retire and play golf – that’s his love,”
“It’s a shame, really. I hope that’s not true. I’ve always known Gareth as a top professional, he gave everything for Tottenham and gave everything for Real Madrid and I believe he deserves more respect.
“Honestly, I would love to see him back at Tottenham. I remember his first day at Tottenham, I was there and I remember him being shown around the training ground with his mum and dad as a young boy.”
“I believe if he goes back to Tottenham he will get his desire back,” he added.
“I think Gareth is one of those players who needs to feel loved to play well, and at Tottenham everyone loves him.
“The news that’s coming out now is really bad because you can see there’s something against him at Madrid and he deserves more respect.”
