Pochettino reveals his verdict on how Alderweireld played on Saturday

After watching his team succumb to an unexpected away defeat, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has given his verdict on the display of Toby Alderweireld.

The Belgian international was in action in a rough game against West Brom which was meant to be Tottenham’s chance to kill off Chelsea’s late challenge for a top four spot.

Alderweireld was given a much-needed start by the boss and he managed to feature for the full 90 minutes as Spurs suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at the Hawthorns.

Even though Tottenham failed to pick up a point from the trip to the side on the brink of relegation, Alderweireld did produce one of the better performances in comparison to the rest of the team on the day.

For Pochettino, the display from the defender was one which had him pleased even though his side lost.

“I think it’s too difficult now to be focused on one player.” Pochettino said in his post-game interview

“I think when you lose, we all lose. When we win it’s the same. He was good like the rest of the team. I was happy with his performance.”
