Pochettino reveals one ‘mistake’ he made in match against Burnley

Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 defeat to Burnley last Saturday was a blow to the club’s title aspirations and the chances of at least securing third spot in the Premier League for Champions League qualification.

That frustration was certainly shown through the manager, Mauricio Pochettino, who confronted referee Mike Dean after the final whistle.

Pochettino believed the corner that resulted in the home side’s first goal should not have been given, prompting his confrontation with the match official.

After the dust settled, the Argentine manager admitted his mistake in the post-match press conference.

“When you feel so disappointed and upset, maybe you sometimes make mistakes,” Pochettino said.

“We made mistakes on the pitch and I made a mistake after.

“Maybe I needed to go straight away to my dressing room and get some water and be a little bit relaxed.”

Spurs have Chelsea next in the Premier League on Wednesday as they look to maintain any slim hopes of challenging for the Premier League title this season.

The fact that Liverpool were not able to pick up maximum points against Manchester United on Sunday means Spurs are definitely not done in the title race just yet.
