Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has made a bold prediction over how Tottenham will finish off their tie against Manchester City in the Champions League next week.
After beating Borussia Dortmund in emphatic fashion in the round of 16 of the competition, Tottenham’s reward was a tough clash with Premier League rivals Manchester City in the next stage.
As expected, many had Pep Guardiola’s side down as the favourites to win the tie even though Spurs had a decent home record against the Blues.
Even though star striker Harry Kane was forced off with a serious ankle injury in the first leg of the tie on Tuesday, the night ended very well for Spurs at their brand new stadium.
A brilliant individual goal from Son saw Tottenham take a 1-0 lead heading into the second leg at the Etihad stadium next week.
And based on that memorable result, Rio Ferdinand is now tipping Spurs to secure what would be a major upset by knocking out favourites Manchester City from the competition.
“Liverpool, will go through. I think Spurs will go through after last night. Juventus will go through and my heart says Manchester United will go through.” Ferdinand said, as quoted by HITC.
