Often reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on what would be their first major deal of the January transfer window.
Spurs’ worrying start to the season under Mauricio Pochettino saw the club part ways with the Argentine tactician nearly three months ago as former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was hired as the new boss.
With the team still struggling to compete for a place in the top four of the Premier League, Mourinho might deem it necessary to bring in a couple of new faces this month.
And as per a report by Fabrizio Romano, the club is now nearing a deal to sign Gedson Fernandes on loan for the rest of the season.
The reputable Italian journalist has also revealed that Spurs have been given an option to purchase the 21-year-old on a permanent deal if he does shine during his spell in north London.
Romano claims Fernandes is ready to agree personal terms with Tottenham as Mourinho looks to bolster his midfield for the remainder of the campaign.
