Spurs succumbed to their second defeat in 2 games after a 2-0 loss against Chelsea on Wednesday. Pedro scored the opener for the Blues in the 57th minute before a misunderstanding at the back saw Kieran Trippier put the ball in the back of his own net to give Chelsea 3 points.
The defeat meant that Spurs are realistically out of the title race and are just 4 points clear of North London rivals Arsenal, who they take on in the derby on Saturday. A loss in the derby would put Tottenham’s third-place under enormous threat and with away trips to the Etihad and Anfield yet to come, it could prove costly.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino bemoaned his side’s mental frailties and claimed that his side might need 10 more years to challenge for the title. This statement from the Spurs boss irked a lot of Tottenham loyalists on social media and the club was at the receiving end of mockery from rival fans.
Mauricio Pochettino you are not going to get 5-10 years – so find a different route and think carefully about what you say on the record.

Mauricio Pochettino's claim that it may be ten years before the @SpursOfficial can win the Premier League is an indirect way to set the self implode wheel spinning to open the window for him to move to either of Man utd or Real Madrid. Unrest coming soon. #BetwaySquad

Mauricio Pochettino says it could take between five and 10 years for Tottenham to develop the mentality to legitimately push for the Premier League title. No one gets that long – its a motivation killer statement.
