Spurs defender closes in on departure on Friday as deal nears agreement

Tottenham prospect Anton Walkes is nearing a permanent switch to League One side Portsmouth, based on a report by the Portsmouth News.

Emerging claims are stating that Portsmouth are on the verge of completing a deal for the 21-year-old youngster.

Walkes was on loan with Pompey last season and his performances at Fratton Park have forced the club into making a move to sign him up for good.

The defender, who has spent much of his career as a member of Tottenham’s group of promising talents at the youth academy, prefers to feature at right-back where his attacking style often exposes the opposition’s defence.

Walkes is a versatile player though, having featured in midfield as well during his loan spell away from Spurs last season.

Tottenham and Portsmouth have reportedly come to an agreement over a deal for Walkes and what is now left is for the player to wrap up the final requirements of the deal, which includes agreeing personal terms.

We would like to wish Anton the best of luck!
