Spurs given ‘final offer’ to agree deal for 29-year-old to be sold

Tottenham are claimed to have been given a ‘final offer’ to agree a deal to sell Toby Alderweireld to Manchester United, based on the Mirror’s report.

Alderweireld spent much of the second half of the last campaign on the bench, with boss Mauricio Pochettino preferring to use Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen.

The 29-year-old has remained a strong target for Premier League rivals Manchester United, who have their own problems to fix at centre-back before the new season begins.

The Mirror are reporting that United have tabled their final offer for Spurs to sell Alderweireld before the summer transfer window comes to a close later in the week.

Tottenham are aware that a clause in the Belgium international’s contract, which sees him earn £75,000-a-week, will allow Alderweireld to leave for £25m next summer, leaving open the possibility of a sale for a bigger fee before the transfer deadline.
