Spurs receive clearance to agree signing of 22-year-old playmaker

Tottenham target Jack Grealish has handed Spurs the clearance to make a move for him after deciding to quit Aston Villa, based on a report by the Sun.

The Lilywhites remain the playmaker’s main suitors at the moment and Tottenham have been waiting for encouragement to lodge a bid for the England Under-21 star.

Grealish was hoping to lead his boyhood club Aston Villa to the Premier League this season, but they fell short in the play-off final against Fulham at Wembley.

The Sun is reporting that the 22-year-old has decided to leave the Championship side this summer after being advised by John Terry, handing Tottenham the go-ahead to make a move.

Grealish reportedly consulted Terry for guidance over his future and the former England international has convinced him to end his stay at Villa Park in order to enhance his career elsewhere.

In addition to that, Aston Villa are currently in a financial crisis as the club’s owner is looking to sell up with no funds available for transfers this summer.
