Spurs ‘pushing through’ deal to sign 22-year-old before tour begins

Tottenham Hotspur are ‘pushing through’ a deal to complete the signing of Jack Grealish before the US tour begins, based on a report by The Mirror.

Spurs are the clear favourites to swoop for Grealish this summer, but talks with Aston Villa have slowed down as club chairman Daniel Levy attempts to decrease the asking price.

The Championship side are expected to sell the midfielder due to their current financial issues, and Levy was hoping that delaying the transfer would force Villa to lower their price.

However, The Mirror reports that Tottenham will now speed the process up as manager Mauricio Pochettino wants Grealish available for his summer tour of the USA.

Villa were initially holding out for a bid of around £40m, but are understood to be willing to accept around half of that in order to raise funds.

Tottenham will leave for Los Angeles on Sunday and will face Roma, Barcelona and AC Milan in the International Champions Cup during their time in America.
