Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has made his opinion about Tottenham Hotspur very clear after watching the club scale new heights this season, with a place in the top four secured and a Champions League final to play in.
Spurs had to wait quite a while to reach the level where qualifying for Champions League football every season became an expectation more than an achievement and that is now the reality under Mauricio Pochettino.
Ever since his arrival at the club, the Argentine tactician has made enough changes to the squad to take Spurs from merely challenging to steal fourth place to actually cementing their spot in the top four of the Premier League.
This campaign, Tottenham have shrugged off the challenges of failing to sign any new players and having to move to a new stadium in the middle of the season by reaching the Champions League final and also finishing in the top four of the league yet again.
Parish told The Sun: “Tottenham haven’t always been what they are today. Every Tottenham fan I know was texting me on the night they opened their new stadium and they needed affirmation.
“They didn’t need it. They know what a brilliant stadium they have but they wanted to hear it. What an amazing year they have had.
“They walked into that stadium, they are playing in a Champions League final — that’s what I want for our supporters.”
