‘They didn’t want the ball’: Pirlo slams two Spurs players who went missing in final

Former AC Milan and Juventus midfielder, Andrea Pirlo, who played in several big games including the Champions League final for both clubs, has slammed two Tottenham Hotspur players after the loss to Liverpool last Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino has raised the standards at the club and this season provided a clear evidence over why he is probably the most important figure at Tottenham.

Spurs changed their luck in the Champions League over the 2018/19 campaign as they survived tests against Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Ajax in the knock-out round to book a place in the final against Premier League foes Liverpool.

The occasion did prove to be too big for some of the Tottenham players as they suffered a 2-0 loss to Jurgen Klopp’s men in Madrid.

Italian legend Pirlo is a man who knows exactly what it feels like to play in a Champions League final and the ex-midfielder has slated Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen for their displays.

He said to Sky Italy: “Tottenham had no personality, people like Alli and Eriksen who didn’t want the ball. There was little quality in midfield.

One comment

  1. What Andrea Pirlo says is true.
This is not first time Eriksen went missing this season.
When the going gets tough he just doesn’t want to know.
As for Ali he was crap all season, thinks all he has to do is turn up.
Kane should never have started and he should have known better.
We need to get someone in who can challenge Kane,
not just sit on the bench waiting till he gets injured.
That was a game we could have won. Liverpool were no better they just got the breaks.
Looking forward to the new season at our amazing stadium and 3 or 4 new signings.
