Tottenham Hotspur have been tipped to finish higher than some fans are expecting at the moment by former Chelsea star Tony Cascarino.
Spurs started off the season in alright form and a place in top four of the league, which has become a requirement after the building of a new stadium, appeared to be very likely to be secured.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side were keeping up with Liverpool and Manchester City in the winter and in fact, not too long ago, they were very much in the race to win the Premier League.
But it has seemed as though ever since Harry Kane made his return from injury in the trip to Burnley, Spurs’ season has suddenly taken a turn for the worse.
At a certain point, Tottenham were at least 10 points clear of the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal, but that gap has been dramatically reduced with only six games left to play this season.
Even though Spurs saw off Crystal Palace 2-0 at the new stadium this week, there is no doubt that the club has been pulled back into the tight race for the top four places.
Tony Cascarino still believes Pochettino’s men are on course to finish in the top three though.
“Tottenham will finish farther off the lead than they are now but are still strong enough to finish third.” the former Premier League star wrote in the Times.
“They will be in their new stadium and the fans will be on their side and enthusiastic.”
“I have Manchester United just taking fourth ahead of Arsenal.”
“Arsenal will finish fifth, which I think is about fair for their performances this season, and Chelsea are down in sixth.”
