Former Spurs boss Martin Jol has suggested that Tottenham should look to sign one of Ajax’s star’s this summer, ahead of the Champions League clash with the Dutch side on Wednesday night.
Mauricio Pochettino was not able to sign any players during the summer transfer window last year but that is likely to change this time, especially with the club securing a place in the Champions League next year.
After the departure of Moussa Dembele in the January transfer window earlier this year, Spurs will have to shop for a player who will fill in the void left by the Belgium star this summer.
Ajax have shown over the past few months that they possess some of the best talents in European football and the fact that they have reached the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League says it all.
Many clubs will be expected to make an approach for the Dutch side’s stars after the season is over and Martin Jol is tipping Spurs to go for Hakim Ziyech.
“If I was Spurs, I would sign Ziyech,” Jol told the Guardian
“He is not the strongest but he is developing into a very good player. There is one thing. Look at Tadic.
“He was an average player in the Premier League but in the Netherlands, he is one of the best in the league. In the Netherlands, it’s not as difficult as people think.”
The 26-year-old would be a quality addition and the Sun have reported that Ziyech has a release clause in his contract worth just £25million.
