After top four rivals Manchester United defeated Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday before Chelsea’s narrow win at Cardiff City, Tottenham Hotspur were placed under more pressure to avoid defeat against Liverpool on Sunday.
Last season, this fixture ended in dramatic style as Harry Kane dispatched a penalty-kick to level the score after a pair of brilliant strikes from Mohamed Salah and Victor Wanyama in a very entertaining affair.
Sunday’s meeting between Tottenham and Liverpool was hardly any different as the game was decided in the 90th minute once again.
This time though, the result was a rather cruel one for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who conceded an own goal after doing very well to place themselves back into the contest courtesy of a goal from Lucas Moura.
The 2-1 loss has seen Spurs remain in third place in the table but they could drop down to fourth place if bitter rivals Arsenal pick up a win against Newcastle on Monday.
